Passport for Umrah Tour
Passengers who will participate in the Umrah tour must have a valid passport. The duration of the passport is checked in Saudi Arabia visa and entry procedures. For this reason, the passports of the passengers who will go to Umrah must have sufficient validity from the date of travel.
In general practice, the passport is required to be valid for at least 6 months for Umrah travel. However, it is recommended that the passport be at least 1 year in order to avoid problems in the visa, airline and travel organization processes.
It is important that the passport is chipped, not worn, its pages are complete and legible. There may be problems in visa procedures and entry to the country with damaged, torn, expired or inadequate passports.
Which Passport is Required for Umrah?
The most commonly used passport type to go to Umrah is the burgundy passport. The burgundy passport is known as a public passport and is the standard passport used by citizens of the Republic of Turkey for general travel abroad.
Passengers with green, grey or black passports can also take action for Umrah travel if the validity period of their relevant passports is sufficient. However, each passenger must be checked separately according to the passport type, visa conditions and current practices.
How to Get a Passport?
Passport applications are made by making an appointment through the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs. The appointment process can be created online or through the AlO 199 Call Center.
Bordeaux passport applications are made from provincial and district civil registry offices. On the day of application, it is necessary to be present at the civil registry office where the appointment is made with the necessary documents.
Passport Application Steps
1. Appointment Booking
An appointment must be made first for the passport application. A passport appointment can be created from any provincial or district civil registry office of Turkey with the T.R. ID number.
The appointment can be made through the official appointment system of the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs or through the AlO 199 line.
2. Biometric Photo Preparation
A biometric photograph taken within the last 6 months is required for passport application. The photo must be up-to-date, clear and in line with biometric standards.
Old, retouched, unsuitable background or biometric photos may not be accepted at the time of application.
3. Payment of Passport Fee and Booklet Cost
Before applying for a passport, the passport fee and booklet fee must be paid. Payments can be made through contracted banks, PTT branches, tax offices, or the digital payment channels of the Revenue Administration.

These amounts are in line with the official Population and Citizenship Affairs application fees for 2026. Since passport fees may change periodically, the current amounts must be checked on the official application screen before the application.
4. Go to the Civil Registry Office on the Appointment Day
On the appointment date, the relevant civil registry office must be present before the appointment time. During the application, identity document, biometric photo, payment information and old passport, if any, are submitted.
After the application is completed, the passport printing and delivery process begins. The passport is sent to the address specified at the time of application.
Documents Required for Umrah Passport
Passport applicants for Umrah travel are generally required to prepare the following documents:
TR identity card, identity card or temporary identity document
Biometric photograph taken in the last 6 months.
Information that the passport fee and book price have been paid.
Previously obtained old passport, if any.
Letter of consent for minors and restricted persons under the age of 18.
Important Warnings for the Passengers of Umrah
The passport duration must be checked before applying for Umrah. Visa procedures may not be possible with inadequate passports.
Credentials must be correct on the passport. Name, surname, date of birth and T.R. identity information must be compatible with official records.
